Oh My GOODNESS....:-O The 'memories' which come to me reading of the bathing caps with those petals atop....OMGOODNESS...thank GOODNESS they are a 'thing of the past'!! LOL!

It is pancake day in the west wing....oh my!

Governor Terminator 'requested' people not buy the 'safe&sane' type of fireworks...but of course they are buying them up and FASSSSST!!!

It is never a 'safe & sane' which starts the fires, it is the 'illegal' type...and sadly, they are very available....our County doesn't allow ANY fireworks, but people drive 15 minutes across the county line and buy them up...so, each year, but ESPECIALLY this year, we 'hold our breath and hope for the best'...

Good mornin' y'all!

Hot dogs, fireworks galore, and alotsa family time...it was a grand weekend in the South Wing:) We picked and put up blueberries and peaches and then went and got a van load of watermelons. Hubby got 125 ears of corn from the farmers market that had to get put up, too. Good thing I had many helping hands to make the work go quickly!! I'm still smiling really big for getting to spend time with my young'us for three whole days!!

Sue ~ The watermelons are still waiting...I may pickle them if I find easy directions or I just could be sick of eating it once they're gone. Both kids took some home with them, thank goodness! From blanching the corn and boiling the jars, dewy isn't the word!! LOL!! I get plain HOT and this kitchen doesn't have an overhead fan in it like my old one did before renovations. I sure do miss it! There may be easier methods of making preserves today but I do it the way my mom taught me years ago.

My son, the chef, decided on Friday night he wanted to make peach sorbet and chocolate pots d'creme and my daughter, not wanting to be outdone by liddle bro made a cake. All this mama felt like SHE did all weekend was load and unload the dishwasher but that was okay because I also got to EAT:)

Thanks for the pictures of those sweet babies! Does Miss Katie love seeing the animals when she goes to the barn with you? I can just picture in my mind liddle Ike and Ada 'visiting' one another with their mama's keeping a watchful eye!

Linda, I always used to help my mom put up tomatoes, she would always do it just before we went back to school in Sept...the steam and heat in that kitchen was unbelievable!! I admire your hard work!

Miss Katie loves to go to the barn because the people we see there, fawn all over her and she just eats it up! She is neutral with the horses unless one trots over to the fence, then that rattles her a bit..Liddle Ada and Ike are so cute, very people oriented already, I got to put them both "to bed" last night with their mamas and gave both a big nighty night hug..they are so cuddly AND love the hugs, who would think foals would tolerate that!!

Yes, Dee should be back up and running by the 9th or 10th, depending on when the man arrives at her home to get her hooked up....I imagine by now, poor Dee is losing her mind without the internet and her frens here and on the 'front porch'....

OK I gotta zoom around here and get some 'inside' chores done before the timer reminds me about the sprinkler o'side...see yole later on:)

OMGoodness!!! Heat wave in no/ca....:( o'night low....78 degrees last night...so HOT...unhealthy hot. Received two 'severe weather alerts' from TV station in Sacramento...re: this heat wave which is here until the weekend. Very HOT daytime temps, too hot o'night temps...bodies don't have a chance to cool down...dangerous for elderly in particular.

Hope yole have a good day today....hope Miss Dee might be able to return to the land of internet...:) cualll8r.

Wow Lynne, you're up and on the 'puter EARLY today!! You and elder be careful of that heat! Is your air conditioner humming away? Does elder have air?

There is a DEER in the front yard of my workplace! It was there one morning last week and then again today. Daughter didn't put up all of her corn and some has dried out...I think I will bring it to work and toss it into the brush. I worry she's/he's hungry and too close to a 4 lane highway. Food may keep it closer to the wooded area.

What a hoot the game was, EH!! I had such a blast finding out just how notsosmart I am about my own country! I think I'll play again tonight to see if I do better but will probably do just as badly:) I know the states on the outside and down by me but those in the center still cornfuse me! LOL!!!

I'm glad to see that Guiding Light and Virtuous Secret are getting to go with the View Crew and especially excited that they get to peek in on Nicanor and Lentenor!!!! It will be fun to hear all about it when they get back. Be sure to visit Nat, too, if y'all get the chance!! She'll be the one in a hat, if she remembers it!!!!

98 degrees on my back porch/shade at 10:30 this morning:( This will surely be THE day from (pardon) HELL...:( Y'day, 108 seemed to be the 'top out' for temps....I predict 110-112 today...oh dear...

Sue...Yes, Sacramento really had bad smoke, I saw it from their sky camera on the news...KCRA TV there. So MANY fires up North of there...Oroville, Paradise, Quincy and can't remember the others...many homes are destroyed, very bad:(

Very HOT here in this foothill community...the deersies are showing ribs....and spend their time 'panting'...babes are trying to nurse, but also eating what they can find in people's yards...they are energetic and happy acting...feel badly for the moms:(

I hope Miss Dee will be among us today sometime:) I betcha she HOPES SO TOO!!!! :)

Fambleeeeeeeeee:( As if ALL of the 'above' post isn't BAD enough:( The Hershey Cherry Cordial Kisses in my candy jar in l/room are MELTED!!! I have had to move the candy jar to the frige...it is REALLY HARD to unwrap one of those kisses when they are melted...the foil wrappers don't wanna come off so easily...and the candy is all smoooooooooooooshy...I am just HATING LIFE by now, Famblee:(:(:(

We topped out at 112 y'day and the SMOKE was just BEYOND BAD...wind came up late afternoon, looked like THICK FOG....smelled bad....tasted bad:( Our poor 'golden state' is burning up!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today...the kisses are still safe/sound and NOT MELTED in the frige....I go there when I can no longer stand the temperature/smoke/oppressive feelings from this heat wave....:/ they offer me some 'comfort':)
